TV 247 - The Boa Noite 247 program this Thursday (21) addressed the latest events in the political scene, involving corruption schemes in the Rodoanel works, the alleged alliances between presidential candidate Ciro Gomes and right-wing parties, as well as the visit of former president Pepe Mujica to former president Lula.

Operation "Stone in the Road" uncovered corruption schemes in the Rodoanel highway construction project, estimated at 600 million reais, directly impacting former São Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB-SP).

Journalist Alex Solnik states that nothing can get worse for Alckmin. "He's cornered; besides the corruption scandal involving the Rodoanel highway, his candidacy isn't taking off," he says.

"The allegations demonstrate the crumbling of a political system," says journalist Paulo Moreira Leite.

Ciro Gomes

The journalists commented on the statements of presidential candidate Ciro Gomes (PDT), who praised Operation Lava Jato without offering any criticism, stressing that, at the moment, Brazil does not need a left-wing government.

Moreira Leite condemns Ciro's stance of not criticizing Lava Jato. "It's an anti-democratic stance," he says.

Ciro is campaigning, he wants to win votes, but he knows his party is small; if he doesn't ally with larger parties, he'll lose. That's why he's seeking alliances with the PSB, PP, and DEM.
