The jewels were seized in October 2021 at Guarulhos Airport in São Paulo, and were found in the backpack of an aide to the then Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque.

“The first point that draws attention is the attempt to use Minister Bento's aide as a 'mule.' This points to an awareness of the illegality of the conduct. But the classification of the actions of attempting to release seized assets outside of legal procedures will probably be more serious,” said Vieira.

Oriovisto, on the other hand, highlighted the use of the presidency for personal gain: "He is a citizen like any other. Values ​​like that have to be declared," he said.
