By Infomoney - Even without the direct impact of the coronavirus, the Central Bank's Economic Activity Index (IBC-Br) grew by 0,24% in January compared to the previous month, below the median expectation of economists compiled in the Bloomberg consensus, which pointed to an advance of 0,4%. In December, the IBC-Br registered a contraction of 0,27%.

On an annual basis, the IBC-Br expanded by 0,69%, while the market expected an increase of 1,05%.

The result was calculated after seasonal adjustment (a kind of "compensation" to compare different periods).
