247 - Jair Bolsonaro has a high disapproval rating (49%) among Brazilians receiving emergency aid, according to a report by Thiago Resende based on a Datafolha survey.

Bolsonaro's performance is rejected by almost half of those interviewed, regardless of whether they received the benefit or did not even request the payment. Among those who requested and have already received at least one installment of the financial aid, 49% consider the president's handling of the Covid-19 crisis to be bad or terrible.

For the population that did not apply for the benefit, the performance is considered bad or very bad by 51%.

The emergency aid was created to alleviate the precarious economic situation of informal workers, self-employed individuals (MEIs), freelancers, and unemployed people who lost income due to social isolation measures adopted to contain the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

Initially, the government proposed a value of R$ 200 per installment (three in total). The aid was increased to R$ 600 per month due to social pressure and the actions of opposition parties in the National Congress. For single mothers, the benefit is R$ 1.200.

The emergency aid was also extended to beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família program.

Also due to social pressure and political articulation in the National Congress by opposition parties, the government announced this Tuesday (30) the extension of emergency aid for another two months, maintaining the value of R$ 600 per month.

The Caixa Econômica Federal (Brazilian Federal Savings Bank) announced that 64,1 million Brazilians have already received emergency aid.

The majority of those who have already received at least one installment of the aid (61%) believe that Bolsonaro is more of a hindrance than a help in the fight against the coronavirus. This was also the assessment of 61% of respondents who did not request financial assistance.
