247 - The Inspector General of the Federal Revenue Service, João José Tafner, whose term was until 2025, requested to be relieved of his duties, alleging internal pressure from the current leadership of the tax authority to resign. information It's from Folha de S. Paulo.

Tafner was involved in an internal dispute over versions of events with the current Secretary of the Revenue Service, Robinson Barreirinhas.

The inspector general, who had been in the position for years, even filed an internal complaint during the Bolsonaro administration alleging that he had been pressured by the then Secretary of the Federal Revenue Service, Julio Cesar Vieira Gomes, and the then Undersecretary-General, José de Assis Ferraz Neto, to "conclude and mitigate any eventual punishment against the former head of intelligence for the agency, Ricardo Feitosa," according to the newspaper. Both deny this.

Feitosa was accused of accessing and copying confidential tax data of Bolsonaro's adversaries., such as businessman Paulo Marinho, former minister Gustavo Bebianno, and the Attorney General of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Gussem, responsible for the investigations into the alleged "money laundering" scheme in Flávio Bolsonaro's office at the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative Assembly (Alerj).

>>> The tax authorities have already identified civil servants who hacked into the data of those opposed to Bolsonaro's political movement.

Tafner did not yield to pressure to lessen Feitosa's punishment and increased the penalty, which went from suspension to dismissal. However, the current Secretary of Revenue, Barreirinhas, "pointed to a possible act of prevarication, since Tafner allegedly did not report the case or take action at the time of the supposed pressure."

From that point on, the inspector general began accusing Barreirinhas of trying to force him to resign. Both accusations (from Barreirinhas and Tafner) are now being investigated by the Inspector General's Office of the Ministry of Finance.

The situation regarding the continued tenure of the tax inspector became untenable after these events, and so he sent his resignation request to Barreirinhas himself.
