Renan demands that Alves expedite the voting process.
The Senate President highlighted a list of 40 proposals that the House voted on in less than 30 days to address societal demands and which need to be voted on by the Chamber of Deputies. Among them are proposals that change the criteria for choosing alternate senators, prohibiting kinship; proposals requiring a clean record for public servants in all three branches of government; and proposals that eliminate retirement as a disciplinary penalty for judges and prosecutors convicted of corruption or other crimes.
The Senate Agency - The President of the Senate, Renan Calheiros, celebrated the signing next Monday (9), at 15 pm, at the Planalto Palace, of the law that ensures more money for education and health. The project (PLC 41/2013), which was approved by the Senate, guarantees that 75% of oil royalties will go to education and 25% to health. Renan Calheiros will participate in the ceremony, at the invitation of President Dilma Rousseff.
"This is great news for both education and healthcare, which, as we all know, require more investment. This was one of the contributions of Congress to improve the quality of public services that society demands of us," emphasized the President of the Senate.
In addition to allocating oil royalties to education and healthcare, President Renan Calheiros highlighted a list of 40 proposals that the Senate voted on in less than 30 days to address societal demands. Among the proposals are those that change the criteria for choosing alternate senators, prohibiting kinship; those requiring a clean record for civil servants in all three branches of government, a measure already in effect for the Senate; those ending retirement as a disciplinary penalty for judges and prosecutors convicted of corruption or other crimes; and those establishing a new procedure for reviewing provisional measures. All of these matters need to be voted on by the Chamber of Deputies.
"I would like to appeal to the Speaker of the House, Henrique Eduardo Alves, to also expedite the voting on these matters," demanded Renan Calheiros.
