Reinaldo Azevedo: Lava Jato privatizes the State

Journalist Reinaldo Azevedo states that the R$ 2,5 billion "fund" created by Lava Jato constitutes a parallel state and shames society, regardless of whether it is left-wing or right-wing; he says: "Lava Jato has left the most fanatical privatizers in the dust, which includes me. Deltan Dallagnol and his d'Artagnans decided to privatize a slice of the State itself. These musketeers act in service of the corporation to which they belong, not the kingdom."

247 - Journalist Reinaldo Azevedo states that the R$ 2,5 billion "fund" created by Lava Jato constitutes a parallel state and shames society, regardless of whether it is left-wing or right-wing. He says: "a "Operation Lava Jato has left even the most fanatical privatization advocates in the dust, myself included. Deltan Dallagnol and his d'Artagnans have decided to privatize a slice of the State itself. These musketeers act in service of the corporation to which they belong, not the kingdom."

In an article published in the Folha de S. Paulo newspaperThe journalist points out: "On January 23rd, the task force celebrated a billion-dollar agreement with Petrobras, under the supervision of US authorities. Even though it was approved by the Federal Court of Curitiba, the arrangement declares itself above the Brazilian Judiciary and regulatory and oversight bodies. The press has not yet given the case its due importance. The left has already attacked it heavily. I am not left-wing, and this mess is not right-wing. It is an aberration that can't even be wrong."

And it adds: "item 4 of the 'Considerations' of the arrangement states: 'Petrobras was responding to administrative proceedings in the US and (...) chose to enter into an agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the US Department of Justice (DoJ) (...). At the initiative of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office and Petrobras, the US Authorities agreed that up to 80% of the amount foreseen in the agreements with the US authorities will be satisfied based on what is paid in Brazil by Petrobras, as agreed with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office'."
