247 - Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), government leader in the Senate, announced this Monday (1st) that he will call on the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) to investigate and fine the Google platform due to the campaign against the Fake News Bill.

"I will request that CADE [Brazil's antitrust authority], as a precautionary measure, remove the content, refrain from repeating similar practices, and impose a fine of up to 20% of gross revenue, in addition to the precautionary blocking of Google's bank accounts," Randolfe said on Twitter.

On Google's homepage, there is a link that states "The Fake News Bill may increase confusion about what is true or false in Brazil." Clicking on it directs the reader to a note from the platform criticizing the proposal.

In addition to CADE (Brazil's antitrust agency), the National Consumer Protection Secretariat (Senacon), an agency of the Ministry of Justice, will investigate alleged abusive practices by the Google platform in relation to the debate on the Fake News Bill. The announcement was made by Minister Flávio Dino.

The UOL columnist Tales Faria said on Monday (1) that he does not believe the vote on Bill 2630, on fake news, will take place on Tuesday (2). According to Faria, government and opposition leaders should meet and assess whether the PL is in a position to be voted on, as the probability of the vote being postponed is high due to the Position of the Evangelical Parliamentary Front, led by the Republicans.

"There's a serious problem with the evangelicals. The Republicans, which is a kind of fiefdom of the Universal Church, have already changed their position. They voted in favor of the urgency and have already announced that they will not vote on the merits, and without them, on the merits, the tendency is for the government to lose. This is already making government leaders wonder if it's possible to vote," the columnist explained.
