“I have nothing to do with this, [the caption] is just there as a formality. I wasn’t consulted about whether or not to file this lawsuit. And if I had been, I would have said no. We don’t share that opinion,” Pereira told [the newspaper]. CNN Brazil this Thursday (24).
“They did this without listening to the other parties,” said the leader of the Republicanos party, referring to the lawsuit filed by the PL party, which resulted in a fine of R$ 22,9 million being imposed on all parties in the “For the Good of Brazil” coalition for “bad faith litigation.”
According to Pereira, the PL party has the authority to speak on behalf of the coalition, but in this specific case, the other parties should have been consulted before the question of the election's validity was brought before the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).
