Almost 600 people signed an agreement with the INSS for undue discounts
Reimbursements to retirees and pensioners begin next Thursday.
Brazil Agency - Nearly 600 retirees and pensioners have joined the agreement with the National Social Security Institute (INSS) to be reimbursed for illegal deductions made between March 2020 and March 2025. According to the agency's most recent report, just over 582 insured individuals have signed the agreement, equivalent to 30,4% of the total of 1,9 million people who reported having been improperly charged by associations and entities of retirees.
The INSS provided the complete table of enrollments by state. The highlights were São Paulo (114.599 enrollments), Minas Gerais (57.318), Bahia (55.786), and Rio de Janeiro (55.080). Regarding the percentage of enrollment, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, and Rio Grande do Sul lead, with rates exceeding 31%.
The deadline for joining is November 14. Those who join the agreement by Monday (21) will receive the amounts in the same week. Joining does not require sending documents. Retirees and pensioners will confirm the agreement, which allows for reimbursement without having to go to court, through administrative means.
Payments
Payments will begin next Thursday (24). The money will be reimbursed in a single installment, adjusted by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), the official inflation rate, directly into the account where the retiree or pensioner receives the benefit.
Payment will be made in order of accession ─ whoever joined first will receive first. The extraordinary credit of R$3,3 billion, outside the government's fiscal targets, was released yesterday (17) through a provisional measure.
Who can join?
Retirees and pensioners who contested improper deductions and did not receive a response from the entity or association after 15 business days can join the agreement. Currently, more than 3,2 million requests from 1,9 million people have already exceeded the deadline for receiving a response from the associations and entities that represent retirees, therefore, they can join the agreement.
Membership is free, and retirees and pensioners can check their expected benefits before signing the agreement. Membership can be completed exclusively through the following channels:
- My INSS app or website;
- Post offices in more than 5 municipalities;
The 135 call center is available for inquiries and disputes, but does not adhere to the agreement.
How do I accept the agreement through the Meu INSS app?
- Access the Meu INSS app with your CPF and password;
- Go to “Check Orders” and click “Fulfill Requirement” for each order (if there is more than one);
- Scroll down to the last comment, read it carefully and, in the “I agree to receive” field, select “Yes”;
- Click "Send" and you're done. Then, just wait for payment.
Is there still time to file an appeal?
The service channels for inquiring about and challenging discounts granted by entities remain open and will be available until November 14th. This deadline may be extended if necessary. Requests can be submitted through:
- My INSS application
- Call center 135
- Post Offices, in more than 5 thousand units across the country
How does the process work until joining the agreement?
- The beneficiary files a dispute regarding the undue discount;
- Wait 15 business days for the entity to respond;
- If there is no response within this period, the system opens the option to join the reimbursement agreement.
And who received a response from the entity?
In these cases, the documents are under analysis and, therefore, the beneficiary does not yet have the option of joining the agreement.
He will be notified and can, through the Meu INSS app or at a post office, accept the documents, contest them on suspicion of ideological falsehood/misleading, or say that he does not recognize the signature.
If the beneficiary objects, the entity will be required to return the amounts within five business days, and the case will undergo an audit.
If the refund is not made, retirees and pensioners will be advised on appropriate legal measures, with legal support in partnership with the Public Defender's Offices of the states.
