247 - Businessman Ricardo Pessoa, a whistleblower in the Lava Jato corruption scandal, lacks credibility with the justice system. His testimonies are met with resistance from judges, who cite a 'lack of evidence'. Of the 16 politicians implicated by the businessman's testimony who have already faced criminal charges or had their cases reviewed by the Supreme Federal Court and other judicial bodies, 8 were cleared of the accusations.

"In all eight of these cases, the courts concluded that the information provided by Pessoa was insufficient to prove crimes or justify opening proceedings. In six of them, the Public Prosecutor's Office itself requested the dismissal of the investigations."

Toffoli voted to reject the charges filed by the Public Prosecutor's Office against two other politicians accused by Pessoa, Senator Ciro Nogueira (PP-PI) and Congressman Eduardo da Fonte (PP-PE). No decision has yet been made in these cases because other ministers have requested time to analyze the investigations.
