Published by the Army, a book claiming that the Yanomami people do not exist is back in the public debate.

The book claims that a people identified as Yanomami did not exist before photographer Claudia Andujar and international organizations with interests in the Amazon invented them.

BBC News Brazil - Amid the serious humanitarian crisis affecting the Yanomami indigenous people, texts containing conspiracy theories about this group have resurfaced on blogs and been shared on social media.

What they have in common is that they reproduce quotes and arguments from a book published in 1995 by the Army Library's publishing house and written by the late Colonel Carlos Alberto Lima Menna Barreto.

With unproven accusations and a set of controversial documents, The Yanomami Farce It suggests, broadly speaking, that a people identified as Yanomami did not exist before photographer Claudia Andujar and international organizations with interests in the Amazon invented them in order to benefit from the demarcation of indigenous land.
