247 - The second indictment filed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, against Michel Temer prompted the PT leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos Zarattini (SP), to issue a statement on behalf of the party's caucus, asserting that this proves that the PMDB government "is a corrupt and illegitimate government that must be removed as soon as possible, for the good of the Brazilian people." The statement further asserts that "the future of Brazil is at stake" and "the caucus calls upon the Brazilian people to demonstrate in the streets, unions, churches, and all public spaces in support of the movement to remove Temer."

In the text, Zarattini emphasizes that "the Supreme Federal Court is already analyzing a request for an investigation against Temer, due to suspicions surrounding the issuance of the Ports Decree, a measure involving people close to the president, such as former federal deputy Rodrigo Rocha Loures, caught carrying a suitcase with R$ 500. There are allegations of vote-buying both for the election of Eduardo Cunha, a member of the PMDB party and now imprisoned, to the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies, and to guarantee the impeachment of the legitimate president Dilma Rousseff."

"This entire succession of scandals only confirms that the current government lacks the legitimacy to carry out the much-touted 'reforms,' which remove rights and dismantle the Brazilian state. It is a government that lacks the legitimacy to undertake the announced privatization program, which hands over public assets to foreigners at ridiculously low prices and compromises the sovereignty and future of the country.
