247 - The PSOL filed a petition this Monday (12) asking the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to suspend the secret budget until the end of the elections. The party also requested that the STF suspend decree 11.190/2022, which allows the withdrawal of resources from science and culture, and opens space for more amendments to the secret budget.

The petition follows the Argument of Non-Compliance with Fundamental Precept (ADPF) which challenges the lack of transparency in the rapporteur's amendments and which is already being processed in the STF, under the rapporteurship of the president of the STF, Minister Rosa Weber.

“Decree 11.190 expands the potential bargaining chip for electoral support in the 2022 election. And it allows for the plunder, the unscrupulous immersion of arbitrary, non-transparent, and unprincipled discretion by the RP9, which attacks the country's cultural, scientific, and technological resources and allocates them to almost always dubious and electoral purposes,” says an excerpt from the petition.

The decree cited by PSOL was published by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on September 6th, in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU), enabling the transfer of up to R$ 5,6 billion by the end of the year.
