PSDC confirms Eymael's candidacy for president.

Brazil Agency - The Social Democratic Christian Party (PSDC) confirmed this morning (28), during a convention in the capital of São Paulo, the candidacy of José Maria Eymael for the presidency of the Republic, in the October elections, and of the Assembly of God pastor Helvio Costa as vice-president.

"I am absolutely convinced that I see before me federal deputies who helped me govern in Brasília. I also see women and men whom I will greet in the São Paulo legislative assembly. I am absolutely convinced of what I am saying. We are going to show Brazil the strength of Christian democracy in São Paulo," said Eymael.

The candidate, who was a federal congressman in the Constituent Assembly, cited what he considered achievements of the Federal Constitution, such as the protection of the family, defense of the taxpayer, and benefits for small rural producers. The candidate also positioned himself against corruption and said that the party wants a country where there is equality of opportunity. "We can all proudly affirm that my history is a history of a clean life. No one can point an accusing finger at me because my life is clean. Because I am a Christian Democrat," said the candidate.

Proposals

In the economic area, the PSDC's general government guidelines include macroeconomic policy aimed at reducing the cost of credit to the productive sector, support and incentives for tourism and the promotion of agribusiness with specific government actions, which have not yet been disclosed, and support for small and medium-sized rural producers.

Regarding public safety, the candidate intends to continue the Ministry of Public Security and provide the necessary conditions for carrying out its responsibilities. In the area of ​​health, the program includes the continuation of the Unified Health System (SUS) policy.

In education, in addition to expanding places in public university education and vocational courses, the program foresees the inclusion of the subject Moral and Civic Education in elementary education.

José Maria Eymael was born in Porto Alegre (RS), studied Philosophy and Law at the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of Rio Grande do Sul. He graduated in law, specializing in Tax Law, and has worked as an entrepreneur for 46 years in the areas of marketing, communication and information technology.

Eymael is the eldest of seven children of a civil servant from Rio Grande do Sul. He began working at the age of twelve as a typography assistant. Later, he was one of the leaders of the Catholic Workers' Youth (JOC). As a university leader, he presided over the São Tomás de Aquino Academic Center of the Philosophy Faculty at PUC-RS and the Federation of Students of Private Universities of Rio Grande do Sul (FEUP).

In these roles, he coordinated national and regional campaigns such as the Textbook Price Reduction campaign. In 1962, he joined the Christian Democratic Party (PDC) in Porto Alegre, becoming active in the Christian Democratic Youth.
