247 - The PSD (Social Democratic Party) of Minas Gerais will expel members who threaten the democratic rule of law. According to the party's press office in Minas Gerais, the PSD has not received any complaints from members in Minas Gerais who participated in acts supporting a coup in Brazil. The Minas Gerais directorate followed the same position as the party's national executive committee.

According to Resolution No. 143, signed by national president Gilberto Kassab, members who question the results of the 2022 elections "in a violent, criminal manner contrary to the peaceful transfer of power" will be expelled. The decision takes effect immediately.

The party adopted the measure after acts of vandalism in Brasília (DF), last Sunday (8), where Bolsonaro supporters invaded the Planalto Palace, the Congress and the Supreme Federal Court. "The Social Democratic Party constitutes itself as an instrument for carrying out the political process faithful to the democratic principle," wrote Kassab.
