247 - The Attorney General's Office for Electoral Affairs presented a statement to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on Wednesday night (12) requesting that Jair Bolsonaro (PL) be declared ineligible, reports the Folha de S.Paulo. The lawsuit was initiated by the PDT party, which accuses Bolsonaro of abuse of power during a meeting with foreign ambassadors in July 2022 at the Alvorada Palace. During the meeting, Bolsonaro disseminated false information about the security of electronic voting machines.

If the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) declares him ineligible, Bolsonaro will be barred from running for political office for eight years, starting with the 2022 elections. The lawsuit filed by the PDT (Democratic Labour Party) is considered the most advanced among the accusations Bolsonaro faces in the electoral court and was kept confidential by the reporting judge, Benedito Gonçalves.

In the statement submitted on Wednesday, the Prosecutor's Office argues that the ineligibility should not apply to Bolsonaro's running mate in the 2022 campaign, former minister and Army general Walter Braga Netto (PL). Sources close to the president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, expect the case to be judged by the end of April.
