In a statement, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Tocantins issued a note of condolence.
"The MPTO (Public Prosecutor's Office of Tocantins) has lost more than a member; it has lost a person who was loved and admired by the entire institution for the way he conducted his work, always with integrity, knowledge, and kindness."
José Maria was currently the head of the 10th Public Prosecutor's Office and also held the positions of coordinator of the Support Center for Public Prosecutor's Offices for Urban Planning, Housing and the Environment (Caoma) and of the Environmental Task Force of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
