Brazil Current Network - Presidents of five trade union centers released a statement on Wednesday (28) supporting the candidacy of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB). In addition, they defend the election of candidates committed to workers and their rights.

"Our task is to radically change this situation of destruction in the country, marked by hunger, misery, high cost of living, unemployment, precarious work, violence, death, environmental destruction, and attacks on democracy," they state.

While reaffirming their support for Lula, the leaders of the labor unions once again expressed confidence in the electoral system. They pointed to "the reliability of the electronic voting machines and the capacity of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to conduct the elections with fairness and transparency."

Yesterday (27), union leaders met with the president of the TSE, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, to request security and protection measures for voters and poll workers. “I left satisfied with the guarantees given by the institution that election day will proceed normally, not only because of what the president of the court told us, but because of all the information we received and saw of what is being done to guarantee the security and freedom of expression of Brazilians on this date so important for democracy,” commented the president of CUT, Sérgio Nobre.

The moment demands: Winning in the first round.

On Sunday, October 2, 2022, the Brazilian people will decide the future of the country.
The power of the vote, a historic achievement of society, is the foundation of democracy. More than
It is not a right, but a commitment and an exercise of citizenship.
United in defense of our institutions, we, representing the Trade Union Federations, affirm the quality and security of the electoral process, the reliability of the electronic voting machines, and the capacity of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) to conduct the elections with fairness and transparency.
Our task is to radically change this situation of destruction in the country, marked by hunger, misery, high cost of living, unemployment, precarious work, violence, death, environmental destruction, and attacks on democracy. The list of ills goes on and on.
Therefore, it is essential to go to the polls and vote for the candidates that...
The labor movement launched and those committed to the interests of the working class.
Workers. They are comrades in the struggle, who for years have been defending the world of work.
Vote for those who have always stood by the workers for the positions of state representative, federal representative, senator, governor, and president of the Republic.
We need a team that will help change Brazil.
Our fundamental task is to decide in the first round the course that Brazil will take.
Let's go with Lula/Alckmin to put Brazil on the path to economic development with social justice, decent job creation, wage increases, and environmental sustainability.
We will win with Lula and Alckmin to change Brazil.
