After Feliciano, Bolsonaro wants to preside over Human Rights.

After a turbulent year with the controversial actions of federal deputy Marcos Feliciano (PSC), who is a pastor, on the Chamber's Human Rights committee, now it's Jair Bolsonaro's (PP) turn to vie for the position; "I am aligned with the evangelical caucus and have the support of my party leader. I don't believe the PT will be interested in the committee. This is the desire of a minority within the PT. They will want something bigger," he said; members of the PT want the party to regain control of the committee.

247 - After all the controversy surrounding Congressman Marcos Feliciano's (PSC) tenure as president of the Chamber's Human Rights and Minorities Commission, Congressman Jair Bolsonaro (PP) is working with evangelical parliamentarians to take over the position. Feliciano is Bolsonaro's main ally in this endeavor.

"I am aligned with the evangelical caucus and I have the support of my party leader. I don't believe the PT will be interested in the committee. That's the desire of a minority within the PT. They will want something bigger," said Bolsonaro. The PP, the party he belongs to, has the right to chair two committees and, this year, can choose between the Agriculture Committee and the Human Rights Committee.

Congressman Nilmário Miranda (PT-MG), one of the founders of the Human Rights Commission in the 90s, is working to ensure that, if the commission doesn't go to his party, it will be chaired by someone more aligned with the cause of human rights. The party has not yet made a final decision.
Bolsonaro also said that he is not afraid of the resistance his name will face, given his positions in this field.
