"Politically and morally, Palocci is already out of the PT," Gleisi retorted.

The national president of the PT (Workers' Party), Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, reacted vehemently to the resignation letter from former minister Antônio Palocci, sent to the party this Tuesday, the 26th. According to Gleisi, Palocci's letter is not addressed to the PT, but to the prosecutors of the Federal Public Ministry with whom the former minister is negotiating a plea bargain. "Palocci decided to 'burn his ships,' break with his own history, and renounce the causes he defended in the past. The disrespectful and slanderous way he refers to former president Lula demonstrates his weakness of character and his desperation to please his inquisitors. Politically and morally, Palocci is already out of the PT," said the president of the PT.

247 - The national president of the PT (Workers' Party), Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, reacted vehemently to the resignation letter from former minister Antônio Palocci, sent to the party this Tuesday, the 26th.

According to Gleisi, Palocci's letter is not addressed to the PT (Workers' Party), but to the prosecutors from the Federal Public Ministry with whom the former minister is negotiating a plea bargain agreement.

"The letter repeats the false accusations he made before Judge Sergio Moro, which contradict his previous statements. Which Palocci should we believe: the one who says he lied before, or the one who changed his story now to save himself?" Gleisi asks.

STATEMENT FROM THE WORKERS' PARTY

The letter released today (26) by Antônio Palocci and his lawyers is not truly intended for the PT, but for the Lava Jato prosecutors. It is the message of a convict who has given up defending himself and wants to make a deal with the MPF, offering lies in exchange for penal and financial benefits.

The letter repeats the false accusations he made before Judge Sergio Moro, contradicting his previous testimonies. Which Palocci should we believe: the one who claims to have lied before, or the one who has changed his story now to save himself?

The Workers' Party (PT) treats all members facing investigations and lawsuits equally. We respect the principle of presumption of innocence. No one will be judged by a party ethics committee before the final judgment of the legal proceedings.

Palocci decided to "burn his ships," break with his own history, and renounce the causes he defended in the past.

The disrespectful and slanderous way in which he refers to former President Lula demonstrates his weakness of character and his desperation to please his inquisitors.

Politically and morally, Palocci is already out of the PT (Workers' Party).

Gleisi Hoffmann
National President of the PT (Workers' Party)
