Federal police officers will hold protests on September 7th.

Brasilia – Federal police officers from Acre, Alagoas, Bahia, Mato Grosso, Rondônia and the Federal District will hold protests tomorrow (7), during the Independence Day holiday. In the federal capital, the demonstration should take place in front of the Ministry of Planning. The category demands better working conditions and restructuring of the career.

Police officers protested today (6) in seven states (Amapá, Bahia, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, Piauí, Pernambuco and Sergipe). Agents, clerks and fingerprint technicians are demanding to be classified as higher-level careers.

“We want the duties of agents, clerks, and fingerprint technicians to be recognized by law, because since this is not happening, they are governed only by internal regulations of the Federal Police, and it is not effectively known what the role of each one is,” said the vice-president of the National Federation of Federal Police Officers (Fenapef), Luis Antônio Boudens.

The government proposed a 15,8% salary increase spread over three years, but the category rejected the proposal. "Since 2002, we have been suffering salary losses and, therefore, we do not accept this proposal," he added.

According to the vice-president of Fenapef, 30% of police officers are undergoing psychological treatment or taking medication due to problems related to their working conditions.
