247, with information from Agência Brasil and Estado - The Military Police (PM) found seven Molotov cocktails, rockets, 5 liters of gasoline, and graffiti on the walls at the University of São Paulo (USP) rectory during the repossession this morning (8). “It was a war zone,” summarized Major Marcel Soffner, from the PM’s communications department.

In about two hours, the Military Police today carried out the court order for the repossession of the building, which had been occupied for a week by students from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences. The keys to the rector's office were handed over to a court officer by the Military Police command, which is responsible for the information.

At approximately 5:20 AM, about 400 police officers from the Shock Battalion attempted to remove more than 150 students from the location. However, a group of 70 students, who were in one of the university's administrative offices, resisted the removal, verbally assaulting the police officers. The police officers reacted by trying to contain the students, and they were taken in Military Police buses to the 91st Police District (Ceasa), in the western part of the city.

According to information from the São Paulo State Public Security Secretariat, all will face charges of disobedience for failing to comply with the court order to vacate the building by 23 PM yesterday, and for damage to public property. All students were searched inside the building and will have their records taken at the police station by the Civil Police. The exit was carried out one student at a time to avoid commotion.

On the 1st of this month, students occupied the university's administration building because they condemn the presence of military police on campus. The police press office informed that, since the court order was complied with, normal policing on campus will be maintained today. The police took over security at the university after the death of a student during an attempted robbery on campus.

According to the police, the students' withdrawal was peaceful, but around 6 am some students resisted and began verbal aggression. Yesterday (7), the students who were camped at USP decided in an assembly to maintain the occupation of the rectorate building.

The decision was made minutes before the deadline set by the court for the building's evacuation, without the use of police force. The order for the students' removal was given by Judge Ana Paula Bandeira Lins. At the same time, the students want guarantees from USP (University of São Paulo) that there will be no administrative proceedings against those who occupied the rector's building.

However, there are indications from the university administration that administrative proceedings may be opened against those responsible for damaging the institution's property. The USP administration has committed to including students in discussions to improve the agreement with the Military Police and to reviewing administrative processes involving students and staff.

Students continue their protest.

After vacating the rector's office, USP students resumed their protest. They are criticizing the intervention of the Riot Police this morning. The group, which continues to protest against the presence of the Military Police on campus, is concentrated in front of the rector's office and is being monitored by the police, as the area needs to be cordoned off to assess damage to university property.
