247 - The trusted taxi driver of advertising executive André Augusto Vieira, accused of being an operator for former Petrobras president Aldemir Bendine, appears on the spreadsheet of the cash transport company used by Odebrecht as the recipient of alleged payments of R$ 3,5 million from the construction company, which were not disclosed to the Judiciary. Marcelo Marques Casimiro was identified as the bearer of the R$ 3 million bribe that resulted in the conviction of the former state-owned company executive to 11 years in prison for corruption and money laundering in March of last year. Bendine was released on the 9th of this month by a decision of the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
In the conviction proceedings, Vieira confessed to asking Casimiro to go to the apartment rented by his brother in the Paraíso neighborhood, in the southern part of São Paulo, to receive three payments of R$ 1 million from Odebrecht. The deliveries were made on June 17th and 24th and July 1st, 2015, using the code words "ocean," "river," and "lagoon," in apartment 43 of the building on Rua Sampaio Viana. In the spreadsheet seized from the secretary of Odebrecht's Structured Operations Sector, the "bribery department," the three payments of R$ 1 million are linked to the codename "Cobra," attributed to Bendine by the contractor's informants.
A spreadsheet from the cash transport company used by Odebrecht indicates that, months earlier, seven other payments of R$ 500 were made to Casimiro at the same address. According to the document, the deliveries occurred in October 2014 and March and April 2015, with different passwords, such as "corsa", "monza" and "omega".
Advertising executive André Gustavo Vieira denied receiving money from Odebrecht beyond the R$ 3 million he already admitted to during the criminal proceedings in which he was also convicted by the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba in March of last year. "I received the amount I admitted in my plea bargain, using the code words 'ocean, lagoon,' and 'river.' I am not mentioned by Marcelo (Odebrecht) in any other part of his plea bargain," said Vieira, who reached a plea agreement with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) in the case involving Bendine.
