PL insists and Nikolas will be nominated to the Education Committee; PT gets the vice-presidency.

247 - The Liberal Party (PL) insisted on nominating the ultra-Bolsonarist federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (MG) to preside over the Education Committee of the Chamber of Deputies. even after the government's strategy to try to prevent the commission's installation this week.. 

In this way, the PT (Workers' Party) reached a "peacemaking" agreement with the PL (Liberal Party) and will be able to nominate someone for the vice-presidency of Education. In return, the PL will be able to nominate someone to be vice-president of the Health Committee in the Legislative Assembly. 

The issue was confirmed by Congressman José Guimarães, leader of the Lula (PT) government in the Chamber of Deputies. "We made several considerations regarding some nominations. The PL [Liberal Party] is not giving up, and we will settle things: they will nominate the vice-president of the Health Committee, and the PT will nominate the vice-president of the Education Committee," stated the congressman.

The government's strategy up to that point was for the allied parties to withdraw their nominations for the other committees, thus undermining the elections, according to the news portal O Antagonista. The intention was to force the installation of the committees next week, but the plan ultimately failed.

In addition to Education, Bolsonaro supporters are also expected to occupy the Public Security Committee, which will be headed by Alberto Fraga (PL-DF); the Constitution and Justice Committee, which will be headed by Carolina de Toni (SC); and the Social Security and Family Committee, which will be headed by Pastor Eurico (PE).

The PT party has chosen to lead the Health Committee in order to shield Minister Nísia Trindade, who is under pressure from the Centrão bloc, especially Arthur Lira (PP-AL), who wants to take over the Ministry.
