247 - The leader of the PL in the Chamber of Deputies, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), informed this Tuesday (12) that the party will again adopt obstruction measures in the plenary. The decision was taken after the president of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), postponed the analysis of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that eliminates privileged jurisdiction. The information is from the newspaper O Globo.

According to Cavalcante, the new strategy differs from the mobilization of the previous week, when opposition parliamentarians physically occupied the Chamber's presiding table to prevent votes. This time, the party intends to use resources provided for in the internal regulations to delay the processing of matters, preventing the quorum necessary to approve projects. "We understand this (not scheduling the privileged jurisdiction), but we will not give up our obstruction. On Thursday, we expect the agenda to be set, and next week we will resolve this," he stated.

The leader of the PL party said he believes the proposal will be included on the agenda at the next leaders' meeting, scheduled for Thursday, when the agenda for the following week is defined. Members of the party affirm that the obstruction will continue until the text is debated again, as had been previously agreed with the Board of Directors.

This week's voting agenda, however, is empty. After the crisis provoked by the opposition, Hugo Motta stopped scheduling projects considered relevant, such as the one that expands the income tax exemption bracket for those earning up to R$ 5. When questioned about the absence of significant items on the agenda, Cavalcante downplayed it: "Not even the rapporteur of the project is comfortable voting."
