Brazilian Federal Police indict Bolsonaro supporter and blogger Allan dos Santos
Influencer accused of defamation, incitement to crime, and disobedience for posts attacking institutions and circumventing court decisions.
247 - The Federal Police sent a report to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) indicting the pro-Bolsonaro blogger Allan dos Santos for the crimes of defamation, disobedience, and incitement to crime. According to the g1The document describes a systematic pattern of actions by the digital influencer to attack authorities and institutions, as well as to disobey court orders.
In the document, the Federal Police state that Allan dos Santos, "using the internet and the creation of multiple profiles, systematically disregarded decisions of the Supreme Federal Court, committed crimes against the honor of a journalist, and incited disorder, contributing to animosity between the branches of government and political polarization." The report also points out that the content he published was "pejorative and conspiratorial."
According to the report, investigators indicate that "Allan dos Santos's statements aim to publicly incite the commission of crimes by third parties." The material sent to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) argues that the blogger spread conspiracy theories, attacked the electoral system, and resorted to strategies such as creating new profiles to circumvent court-ordered account freezes.
The investigation began after a complaint from a journalist, who reported the publication of false messages in her name. The manipulated posts suggested an alleged plan by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes to arrest Jair Bolsonaro (PL), information that was denied and classified as fabricated.
The investigation has been extended on several occasions, at the request of the Federal Police, to include new inquiries and analyses of collected material. Allan dos Santos had already been the target of previous decisions by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), which determined fines and the blocking of profiles for non-compliance with court orders. He is also considered a fugitive from Brazilian justice since 2021, when his preventive detention was decreed in another investigation.
In its most recent report, the Federal Police conclude that there is a "robust body of evidence of authorship and materiality" in the crimes investigated, related to the production and dissemination of false, offensive, and manipulated messages, as well as incitement to commit crimes.
