247 - The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) is still awaiting information from the United States government to determine whether Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and others under investigation used fake vaccination certificates to enter the country. According to the PF, if the suspicions are confirmed, "new illicit conduct" related to the case may be identified.

The Federal Police indicted Bolsonaro and Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, former aides to the ex-president, along with 15 other people, for the crimes of criminal association and insertion of false data into a public system as part of investigations into vaccination card fraud.

"The investigation is awaiting data from the Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters requested from the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), which may clarify whether the suspects used ideologically false vaccination certificates upon entering and remaining in the United States, potentially constituting new illegal conduct," says an excerpt from the Federal Police report on the case, according to the newspaper. Bolsonaro traveled to the United States on December 30, 2022, the penultimate day of his term as president. At the time, US authorities required proof of vaccination against Covid-19 for entry into the country. According to the Federal Police, the false record of Bolsonaro's vaccination was inserted into official government records on December 21, 2022, about a week before the then-president traveled to the United States.
