247 – Faced with popular pressure and a lack of courage for direct managerial action, the government began dismantling Pedro Parente's pricing policy at Petrobras through small, side interventions. The ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) announced that it will open a public consultation to discuss the frequency of fuel price adjustments in the country.

The idea is to establish a minimum timeframe for passing on variations in the international market. The timeframe is not yet defined, but the measure could affect refineries and distributors. In July 2017, Petrobras initiated a policy of daily adjustments, according to variations in international prices and exchange rates. After the truckers' strike, adjustments to the price of diesel were suspended.

The policy of daily adjustments has been challenged with the increase in fuel prices caused by the escalation of international oil prices in recent months. It was one of the main banners of the former president of Petrobras, Pedro Parente, who left the company last Friday (1), pressured by criticism of the pricing policy. Oddone said that there is still no defined model, but the ANP may come to regulate adjustments both in refineries and in fuel distributors. By law, fuel prices in Brazil have been free since 2002.
