Pelé is no longer responding to chemotherapy and is in palliative care.

247 - Hospitalized since last Tuesday (29) at the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital, Pelé, the king of football, is no longer responding to the chemotherapy treatment he had been undergoing since September of last year, when he underwent surgery for bowel cancer. At the beginning of the year, metastases were diagnosed in the intestine, lung and liver. Pelé is 82 years old.

A FSP It was reported this Saturday (3) that the star is in exclusive palliative care. This means that chemotherapy has been suspended and that he continues to receive comfort measures, to relieve pain and shortness of breath, for example, without undergoing invasive therapies.

Palliative care is indicated for all patients with progressive and potentially fatal diseases or conditions. Measures will depend on symptoms, functionality, and prognosis—that is, the patient's expected survival time.
