247 - Pressure from military personnel within Jair Bolsonaro's government for General Eduardo Pazuello to retire is unlikely to succeed.

The concern within the military is that the disastrous policy for dealing with the new coronavirus pandemic will also tarnish the image of the Armed Forces. This is why there is pressure for Pazuello to be transferred to the reserves or for him to leave the Ministry of Health.

The general has told associates that he is fulfilling the mission given by Bolsonaro, who used social media to say that "Pazuello is a predestined man, in difficult times he is always in the right place to best serve his country."

But, according to reporting by journalist Valdo Cruz of G1, Pazuello also says that he prefers to remain on active duty and, soon, reassume command of the 12th Military Region of the Army, in Manaus.

"In other words, he doesn't want to retire at this time because his professional plan includes commanding the 12th Military Region of the Army. This group is responsible for all of the Army's logistics in the Legal Amazon," the journalist points out.
