247 - Senator Lasier Martins (Podemos-RS) filed an impeachment request against Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes on Wednesday night (21). In the impeachment request, Lasier described the decision as an "explicitly abusive act" and "incompatible with constitutional freedoms." "In several of the measures and actions ordered by the defendant within the scope of the investigations under his responsibility, it was possible to observe the commission of conduct that could be classified as abuse of authority," the senator said, according to the report.
The operation was authorized by Moraes in August. During the action, agents executed search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to eight businessmen who were part of the group. The minister also ordered the lifting of confidentiality and the freezing of bank accounts, as well as ordering social media networks to suspend the profiles of those under investigation. On September 15th, he authorized the unfreezing of the accounts.
