Federal Police operation targeting irregularities in parliamentary amendments becomes a topic of discussion at a meeting of House leaders.
Operation "EmendaFest," launched by the Federal Police this Thursday, had an aide to Congressman Afonso Motta as one of its main targets.
247 - Operation "EmendaFest", launched by the Federal Police (PF) this Thursday (13), became one of the main topics of the meeting of the college of leaders of the Chamber of Deputies. The operation investigates an alleged diversion of parliamentary amendments destined for the Ana Nery Hospital, located in Santa Cruz do Sul (RS), and had an advisor to deputy Afonso Motta (PDT-RS) as one of the main targets.
According to the journalist's column Igor GadelhaAccording to Metrópoles, the leader of the Novo party in the House, Marcel Van Hattem (RS), was the one who brought up the operation, highlighting the investigation against the advisor of his political opponent in Rio Grande do Sul. However, the other leaders did not continue the discussion. “Only Marcel Van Hattem said that we had to address what happened in the South. I didn't feel that he said anything that needed refuting,” commented the leader of the PDT party, Mário Heringer (MG), to the column, emphasizing that the discussion did not generate controversy among those present at the meeting.
According to analyses by House leaders, "EmendaFest" has not yet provoked a significant reaction among deputies, unlike other Federal Police operations, since, so far, only one advisor has been targeted in the investigation. The operation, authorized by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), executed at least 11 search and seizure warrants to investigate the misuse of amendments. Among the targets were addresses related to Deputy Afonso Motta.
During the operation, the Federal Police found conversations between Motta's advisor and an intermediary from the hospital regarding alleged bribe payments. The material was located during Operation Rêmora, which investigates the purchase and sale of interactive screens in cities in Rio Grande do Sul. As the case involved an advisor to a congressman, it was sent to the Supreme Federal Court for due investigation.
According to the Federal Police, several conversations suggest that parliamentary amendments were being directed to the Ana Nery Hospital. In one of them, an audio recording allegedly indicates that the parliamentarian's advisor was receiving payments related to the amendments.
