Operation Alvorada arrests 398 for drug trafficking in the Federal District.
In just four days, 168 previously issued warrants were executed and 230 arrests were made; since January, 5.034 people have been detained by the Civil Police; 6.439 warrants remain to be served; in 2012, 11 release orders were issued, double the total for the entire previous year.
Brasilia 247 – Nearly one hundred people have been arrested daily since Monday the 28th. The actions that resulted in the 398 arrests are part of the 15th phase of Operation Alvorada, which has as its main focus the fight against drug trafficking.
In 2012, 5.034 suspects were arrested for crimes such as drug trafficking, illegal possession of firearms, crimes against life, and crimes against property.
This week alone, 168 arrests were made through warrants and another 230 through arrests in the act. The largest number of detentions occurred in the Integrated Security Area (AIS) West, with 73 cases in the administrative regions of Ceilândia, Taguatinga, and Samambaia.
According to the Civil Police, 6.439 warrants remain to be served, 1.985 more than in 2011. On the other hand, approximately 11,000 release orders were issued in 2012, compared to almost 5,000 last year.
Operation Icarus
Fifty-nine teenagers were apprehended for involvement in illegal possession of firearms, theft, and drug trafficking. All minors were referred to the Child and Adolescent Police Stations I and II.
