"I've never had a problem getting along with the Armed Forces," Lula says in Portugal.

"The Armed Forces command is very calm, they know me, and at the right time I will indicate who will be commander of the Navy, the Air Force, and the Army," said Lula.

247 - President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated that he "never had problems coexisting with the Armed Forces" and that he expects tranquility from the military throughout his government.

"I have never had a problem getting along with the Armed Forces. I have never had a problem with any military personnel. The command of the Armed Forces is very calm, they know me and at the right time I will indicate who will be commander of the Navy, the Air Force and the Army. I never thought I would have a problem and I don't believe I will," said Lula this Friday (18), during a press conference in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, according to the IG.

"I have no fear, and things are created in their own time. Starting next week, I will assume coordination and create the necessary transition groups. I have never had problems coexisting with the armed forces. We have restored the ability to feed our soldiers. Because a soldier without food is worthless. I have never had problems with the military in my governments, and I am not worried about what General Braga Neto says. I don't let myself be influenced by Twitter. I prefer serious news," he concluded.

Lula's statement refers to a statement by retired Army General Walter Braga Netto (PL), vice-presidential candidate on Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) defeated ticket, which went viral among Bolsonaro supporters on social media. On Friday (18), after visiting Bolsonaro at the Planalto Palace, Braga Neto spoke with supporters of the president and asked them "not to lose faith," which was understood by Bolsonaro supporters as a kind of support for the demonstrations held in front of military barracks calling for a coup d'état.

The technical group for the Ministry of Defense has not yet been announced by the transition team of the elected government. "We will have an excellent composition in the Defense Working Group, but we will only finalize it with the president. Since he traveled, had a very busy schedule, a lot was happening, and his speech had an extraordinary impact, we will wait. It makes no difference. It is a long-established, organized, diagnostic institution; it has no major concerns regarding this agenda," said the former minister and coordinator of the thematic groups, Aloizio Mercadante.
