247 - The latest prison riot in Natal, this time at the Professor Raimundo Nonato Fernandes Provisional Prison, was brought under control by prison officers from the Special Operations Group (GOE).
The riot began in the early hours of Monday, the 16th, 24 hours after the rebellion at the Alcaçuz State Penitentiary, which left 26 prisoners dead.
According to the prison director, Alexandro Coutinho, five prison guards were on duty at the time of the riot, which lasted five hours. According to the prison administration, there are no reported deaths, and an assessment of the damage to the building's structure is still underway.
The Prison Guards Union stated that the prisoners said the response to the PCC will not be limited to the prison walls.
