On the anniversary of the Bolsa Família program, Lula says Brazilians don't want animal feed.

In a jab at Mayor João Doria's (PSDB) program, which envisions the production of a "farinata" made from food nearing its expiration date, or ready for disposal, to be distributed to the poorest, former President Lula posted on his Twitter account this Friday, the 20th: "Brazilians want social inclusion and dignity. They don't want rations. Today, Bolsa Família turns 14 years old"; the post also includes a video about the social program launched during his administration, which lifted 36 million Brazilians out of extreme poverty.

247 - Former President Lula once again criticized the actions of São Paulo Mayor João Doria (PSDB) while celebrating the 14th anniversary of the Bolsa Família program this Friday, the 20th.

"Brazilians want social inclusion and dignity. They don't want handouts. Today, the Bolsa Família program turns 14 years old," tweeted the former president.

The post also includes a video about the social program launched during his administration, which benefited 50 million Brazilians and lifted 36 million out of extreme poverty, as highlighted in the video.

This is not the first time Lula has criticized Doria's "farinata" (a type of food supplement). In a speech given in Ferraz de Vasconcelos (SP) earlier this week, he declared that the granulated product shouldn't even be given "to dogs".

"Honestly, I've seen a lot in this country, but for a representative of the elite to take leftover food and order a ration that wouldn't even be fit for a dog, and think that poor people should eat that, is a complete lack of respect for the humblest people in this country," he stated.

The product of the toucan, announced in the Food for All program, will be produced with food nearing its expiration date, or ready for disposal, and distributed to the poorest.

Doria even announced that he would distribute it in school lunches, if possible also to children from outside São Paulo. But faced with the negative reaction, he backed down from the idea.
