"We are not going to sell public companies, but we want partnerships for new things," says Lula, at a business forum in Portugal.
During his speech, Lula pointed out the absurdities that occurred after Eletrobrás was practically given away to private groups during the Bolsonaro administration.
247 - President Lula spoke this Monday morning (24) at the Portugal-Brazil Business Forum in the European country. He lamented the sale of public companies by the last two governments and promised partnerships with businessmen "to build new things".
"A lot of public assets were sold off simply to pay interest on the public debt. We reduced the assets, but income didn't improve," Lula criticized.
President Lula then cited the privatization of Eletrobrás by Jair Bolsonaro's government and criticized the astronomical salary increase for members of the former state-owned company's board of directors.
"We want to make Brazil regain the importance it always had," Lula defended the trips, recalling that direct international investments practically stopped during the neoliberal governments.
