247 with MST - On the evening of this Friday (3), the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) will hold an event to mark the launch of the Lula Livre National March, which will take place between August 10 and 15 towards Brasília. The event, which will be attended by politicians and will have a greeting from João Pedro Stedile, from the Movement's leadership, will take place from 19 pm at Armazém do Campo, Alameda Eduardo Prado, 499, in the Center of São Paulo.
The National Lula Livre March is a mobilization of the entire working class, driven by youth and Via Campesina. The main reason is the defense of freedom for former president Lula and his right to be a candidate in the presidential elections. There will be three columns that will move from Formosa-GO, Luziânia-GO and Engenho das Lages-DF, culminating in a simultaneous entry into Brasília on the 15th.
"We march because we fight for Lula's freedom! Lula is innocent in the process conducted by Judge Sérgio Moro. He is a political prisoner, convicted without evidence," explains João Paulo Rodrigues, from the national leadership of the MST (Landless Workers' Movement).
He adds that Lula was only convicted and imprisoned to prevent him from running for President. "Against this maneuver to undermine democracy and prevent the people from choosing their representative, we demand: Free Lula! Lula for President!", he concludes.
