Reuters The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to demand that the government adopt measures to prevent official acts and the civic-military parade on the occasion of September 7th from being confused with political-partisan acts.

According to a statement, a letter was sent to the Minister of Defense, General Paulo Sérgio Nogueira de Oliveira, emphasizing the special relationship of subjection of the military to the Constitution and laws of the country.

The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office justified the measure in light of the political and partisan demonstrations scheduled for the same day, time, and location as the civic-military parade in Brasília, citing the distribution of invitations to civil servants working in the ministries to attend the event.

President and reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has sought to give a political-electoral tone to the celebrations of the country's 200th anniversary of independence, calling on supporters to take to the streets in green and yellow in defense of the country's freedom. Bolsonaro is in second place in the polls for the presidential election.

A similar measure was also adopted by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office in Rio de Janeiro, where another official civic-military event will take place in the afternoon with the president present, as well as an event in support of the candidate for re-election.
