Brazil Agency - The Public Prosecutor's Office of the State of Goiás (MPE-GO) has filed two more charges against the medium João Teixeira de Faria, known as João de Deus. The medium's son, Sandro Teixeira de Oliveira, was also charged with coercion and attempted bribery of a witness.
One of the accusations against the medium is for the alleged rape of a vulnerable person, in relation to five victims (four of them from the state of São Paulo and one from the Federal District), and the other is for illegal possession of a firearm.
Once again, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Goiás (MPE-GO) requested the preventive detention of João de Deus and the freezing of the medium's money to guarantee eventual compensation to the victims in case of damages.
According to a statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office, "the victims in the five cases now reported were between 23 and 38 years old at the time of the events, which occurred between March 2010 and July 2016."
According to prosecutors, there are also testimonies from six other women against João de Deus who also claim to have been molested, but the crimes have fallen under the statute of limitations. "They were between 23 and 51 years old at the time of the events, between 1996 and 2009." These witnesses "are from the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro, and the Federal District."
Illegal possession of a firearm
Regarding the alleged illegal possession of a firearm, the complaint against João de Deus would also incriminate his wife, Ana Keyla Teixeira. The investigation seized five weapons in the couple's bedroom, "three of which are permitted for use and two of which are restricted or prohibited for use (...), one had no identification mark and another was missing its serial number."
The charges against the medium's son, Sandro, were for "coercion during the course of the proceedings and active corruption of a witness." According to prosecutors, Sandro Teixeira was armed when he coerced a witness a day after she had appeared at the police station.
In addition to coercion, the Public Prosecutor's Office states that Sandro offered "advantages to obtain the silence of this witness, offering stones that were considered precious."
