247 - Federal judge Sérgio Moro, responsible for Lava Jato, suspended this Friday (12), for two weeks, the criminal action against Odebrecht executives. The suspension occurred after the news that the accused were negotiating "collaboration agreements". The information is that Marcelo Odebrecht and executives would be discussing with the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office a plea bargain in which they will confess involvement in the corruption discovered at Petrobras.

"With the investigation concluded, it is time to schedule the interrogations of the accused. However, the Court considered that there is information that some of the accused, including all those arrested in this case, are negotiating some kind of plea bargain, which could be decisive for the position they will adopt in their interrogations in this criminal action," Moro noted. "Under these circumstances, with the agreement of the defense, I resolve to suspend the criminal action for two weeks," he added.

In the case, Odebrecht and executives of the group are defendants accused of corruption, money laundering, and organized crime, stemming from the discovery of an official bribery department within the company.

Moro states that, although the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office "has expressed the view that suspension would not be necessary," the process, which is in its final stages, will remain suspended. "After two weeks, I will reassess," he reiterated.
