Moro slams his former boss Bolsonaro: he's a "right-wing populist".
After interfering in the Brazilian electoral process by artificially convicting former president Lula to elect Jair Bolsonaro, under whom he served as minister, Sergio Moro is now attacking his former boss, who fired him. During his presidential campaign, Moro claims that Lula and Bolsonaro are "two extremists."
247 - In an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), former Lava Jato judge and former minister Sérgio Moro criticized his former boss, Jair Bolsonaro, and compared him to former president Lula. According to him, both are populists and "extremes that should be avoided."
“Both have a somewhat populist character in the formulation of public policies, with the difference that President Bolsonaro would be a right-wing populist and President Lula a left-wing populist, with authoritarian outbursts, right? President Bolsonaro has been remedying this in recent times,” he declared, in the midst of the presidential campaign.
"So, in my opinion, these are two extremes that should be avoided," he concluded.
In the interview, he also criticized the use of military presence in the federal government, stating that the presence itself would not be a problem, but rather "using that presence as if there were a position of strength, and that this position of strength could be imposed on the other branches of government. But in my view, this never came from the Armed Forces, but rather from the Presidential Palace itself, in a misguided way."
