Moraes breaks secrecy on GSI images of the coup attempts of January 8th.
Alexandre de Moraes also ordered the Federal Police to interview officials from the Institutional Security Office (GSI) who were in the Palace during the invasion on January 8th.
247 - Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has given the Institutional Security Office (GSI) of the Presidency 48 hours to send the security camera footage from the Planalto Palace on January 8th, the day of the coup attempts. Moraes also lifted the secrecy surrounding the recordings.
The minister is the rapporteur for the inquiry investigating the coup attempts of January 8th. He also ordered the Federal Police to take statements from all GSI (Institutional Security Office) employees who appear in the images to "assess individual conduct."
Images broadcast by CNN Brazil show GSI military personnel, including Minister Gonçalves Dias, circulating within the Planalto Palace on January 8th.
Alexandre states that the investigation also seeks to "identify and hold accountable the conduct of all those involved, including agents who, during the commission of the criminal offenses on January 8th or subsequently, were complicit or failed to perform their legal duties, either through action or omission."
The minister also says that hearing testimony from GSI employees by the Federal Police is necessary for the Judiciary to "assess individual conduct."
"Except in exceptional situations, the public administration has a duty of absolute transparency in conducting public affairs, under penalty of disrespect" to the Constitution, the minister concluded.
