Moraes prohibits the transmission and retransmission of Bolsonaro's interviews on social media.
The decision was made because the minister understood that the former president and Eduardo Bolsonaro acted in concert with US authorities to obstruct the actions of the Supreme Federal Court.
(Reuters)- Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, in a decision published this Monday, prohibited the transmission and retransmission of interviews given by former President Jair Bolsonaro on social media.
"The precautionary measure prohibiting the use of social media, directly or through third parties, imposed on Jair Messias Bolsonaro obviously includes the transmission, retransmission, or dissemination of audio, video, or transcripts of interviews on any third-party social media platforms. The investigated party may not use these means to circumvent the measure, under penalty of immediate revocation and arrest," Moraes wrote in his decision.
On Friday, Moraes banned Bolsonaro from using social media, as well as ordering him to wear an electronic ankle monitor and to remain at home at night on weekdays and all day on weekends. He also prohibited the former president from speaking with his son, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), and from speaking with ambassadors and approaching embassies.
The decision was made because Moraes understood that Bolsonaro and Eduardo acted in concert with authorities in the United States to obstruct the actions of the Supreme Federal Court.
Before Moraes' decision was announced, the former president canceled an interview scheduled for Monday with the Metrópoles news portal, which was to be broadcast live on YouTube.
