Supreme Court justices coldly receive Bolsonaro's request for a truce.

Bolsonaro's attempt at a truce last Friday, when he sent emissaries to speak with Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, may come to nothing. Some Supreme Court justices believe there were errors in that meeting.

247 - On Friday (19), three ministers from the legal area of the Bolsonaro government met with Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of two inquiries that bother the Planalto Palace. The attempt at a truce was received with coldness and skepticism by the court.

One of the investigations led by Minister Alexandre de Moraes is the fake news investigation, which is linked to another investigation on the same topic that could result in the annulment of the presidential ticket. The other investigation that worries Bolsonaro is the one that could punish those responsible for anti-democratic public acts of support for the head of the Executive Branch.

According to ministers of the court, Bolsonaro's ministers should have approached the president of the Supreme Court, not Alexandre de Moraes, if the intention was to reach a truce. It appeared that the government ministers acted as Bolsonaro's defense lawyers, which displeased Dias Toffoli, reports the journalist. Igor Gielow, from Folha de S.Paulo.

Members of the Supreme Court also point out as a mistake of Friday's meeting that Bolsonaro's ministers had no way of guaranteeing that the attacks on the court would actually end.

According to the report, Bolsonaro's ministers left the meeting with the impression that Moraes listened indifferently to the proposal for appeasement.

According to observers, there is no longer any possible accommodation between the government and the Supreme Court regarding these investigations.
