Environment Minister to make 'surprise visits' to NGOs
Brazil's Environment Minister, Ricardo Salles, told Andréia Sadi's blog that he will create a schedule for "surprise visits" to some of the 40 NGOs that receive money from the fund managed by the federal government; the minister also announced a 90-day suspension of the signing of new contracts with NGOs.

Salles announced this Wednesday (16) the suspension, for 90 days, of the signing of new contracts with NGOs. According to the minister, the objective is to take stock of the money transferred to the organizations and the activities carried out, in addition to ongoing contracts. There will be no interruption of contracts in execution, he informed.
"We're going to choose a few [NGOs] and we'll go there in person to check what they're doing with the money, how it's being used and invested," he stated.
The minister said that the visits will not be to all projects. He stated that he will randomly choose the entity to be visited.
