Minister says that the "sensationalism" surrounding the accusation harmed the approval of the reform.

The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Moreira Franco, said that if it weren't for the "spectacularization" created around the JBS plea bargain and the resulting political crisis, the pension reform would have already been voted on by the National Congress and the economic gains for the country would have been immense; "The pension reform, if there hadn't been all this spectacularization, could already have been voted on. Everything would be fine," he stated.

247 - The Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Moreira Franco, said that if it weren't for the "spectacularization" created around the JBS plea bargain and the resulting political crisis, the pension reform would have already been voted on by the National Congress and the economic gains for the country would have been immense. "The pension reform, if there hadn't been all this spectacularization, could already have been voted on. Everything would be fine," he stated. In fact, "strictly speaking, all these episodes contributed greatly to the economic situation not having the gains it could have had," he added.

The pension reform was supposed to be voted on in May by the Chamber of Deputies, but this has not yet happened due to a lack of consensus within the government's own base. The government is working with the expectation that the vote will resume quickly following the termination of the JBs plea bargain agreement, which directly implicated Michel Temer in the crimes of passive corruption, obstruction of justice, and criminal organization.

On Thursday (7) JBS executives gave new testimonies to clarify doubts about a recording that jeopardized the terms of the plea bargain agreement that served as the basis for the first complaint against Temer and which ended up being shelved by the Chamber of Deputies. The Attorney General's Office is expected to present a second complaint against the PMDB member by the 17th.
