Minister says he expects a solution to the blocked funds from the "Pé-de-Meia" program by Wednesday.
The funds were frozen by the court in January because they were being used outside the federal budget.
247 - Education Minister Camilo Santana said on Monday (10) that he expects a solution to the blocking of R$ 6 billion from the Pé-de-Meia program by Wednesday (12), when the case is scheduled to be analyzed by the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU). The information is from CNN.
The funds were blocked by the court in January because they were being used outside the federal budget. According to Camilo, there are disagreements between the technical teams of the government and the TCU (Federal Court of Accounts), but there is consensus on the importance of the program.
"We hope that we can resolve this by Wednesday, as stipulated in the decision. We hope and pray that we can resolve this on Wednesday," Camilo declared after a meeting with Augusto Nardes, the minister responsible for suspending the funds.
“This is a difference of understanding that the teams are discussing. The government starts from the premise that there was legislative authorization for a private fund to be transferred to another private fund, the Pé-de-Meia fund, and consequently there would be no problem in making the payment from that fund. The TCU (Federal Court of Accounts) questions whether this money should have been allocated through the budget,” explained the head of the Education Ministry.
According to Nardes, the government needs to find a way to accommodate the expense in the 2025 Budget and present a resolution to the irregularities involving the execution of the program last year.
