Merval assures that Ciro will remain neutral in the second round.
"Ciro will remain neutral in the second round. He'll go to Paris or somewhere else, but he won't support Bolsonaro, nor will he campaign for Lula," says the journalist.
247 - The journalist Merval PereiraAccording to an article in the newspaper O Globo, presidential candidate Ciro Gomes (PDT) is unlikely to support former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in a potential second round of the presidential elections. "The truth is that, with the increased tension, Ciro will remain neutral in the second round. He will go to Paris or somewhere else, but he will not support Bolsonaro, nor will he campaign for Lula," says Merval.
According to him, "logically, the PDT is a left-wing party, and Ciro's voters should overwhelmingly vote for Lula in a second round, or even in the first, if the campaign for strategic voting is successful."
Despite this, Merval believes that "since our party politics lack logic, a portion of the electorate may shift to the right, as the polls show. Another relevant factor will be voter abstention, which this year, everything indicates, will be higher due to fear of violence."
